They still aren't friends, although Joshua really wants to be. Joshua has finally learned to sit & pet Belle gently....for a few minutes, anyway, before he tries to rub his head on her or pull her tail. Today Belle was so cold that she was shivering & she actually let Joshua sit next to her & even put his head on her - all without growling at him!
