Shoes

Today we went shoe shopping for the whole family. We had never officially taken Joshua shoe shopping. By that, I mean we had never actually had Joshua "fitted" for shoes...because his behavior can be so bad we just didn't want to put up the fight. However, now his PT has recommended a special insert for his shoes because his ankles are still rolling in a good bit on both feet causing instability. So this time we knew we would have to have help getting the right size. I'm not completely convinced the salesman got us the correct size but then again, what do I know. I couldn't believe how big these shoes are! I took a picture of Joshua's shoe next to mine. At this rate, we'll have the same size foot by the time he is in kindergarten!

New Pictures

We discovered last night that it is actually possible to get decent pictures of Joshua! Usually, by the time the picture actually takes, he has stopped smiling & gotten very serious. John's mom was able to get these pictures last night.

Today

This time last year, I never thought this day would come. Joshua has been seizure-free for six months!! Such a praise & blessing! There is never a guarantee that this will continue, as people can suddenly build up a tolerance to medication, but we are thankful for each day that he goes without a seizure. Our prayer is still that his little brain will be completely healed. Thank you to all of you who have so faithfully prayed for our precious one!

What Does He Do Without His Trampoline?

He finds something that will do, like....

the bed, or...

the couch!

Fourth of July Part 2

While we were gone, we went to Tigers for Tomorrow but they don't allow you to take pictures. It was pretty nice & the animals were beautiful! They have an area with goats that you can pet & feed, which Joshua really liked. Then they have enclosures with tigers, lions, leopards, bears, etc. We were only there for about an hour...mostly because Joshua wanted to be carried rather than walk. It was too rocky & hilly for our stroller, and he only wanted mommy to carry him. Unfortunately mommy can only carry 41 pounds for so long! But he did enjoy seeing the animals. We will definitely go back when he is older. We definitely recommend going if you are in the area. If you go...make sure to wear tennis shoes! I wore flip flops & survived but there were parts that were steep & rocky, and your feet get dirty!

Belle trying to relax while Joshua was distracted by something else.

John showing Joshua a sparkler. John kept saying he wanted to get sparklers for Joshua since we weren't going to see any fireworks. I thought that would be fun. When he went into the fireworks superstore, the last thing I said to him as he got out of the car was, "Just get sparklers...don't get anything else." Of course, he came out with a 10-pk of fountains! I didn't even know they sold fireworks that don't shoot up in the air. So, John got to put on a small, quiet fireworks show at the cabin.

This was one of the bigger "fountain" fireworks that John set off.

Fourth of July Part 1

This weekend we took our first out of town trip since Joshua was diagnosed with a seizure disorder last summer. We didn't go to far, but we did spend the long weekend in north Alabama. Here are some pics:

John & Belle were so excited to get out of town!

Joshua petting the horses down the road from where we stayed.

We're pretty sure at least one of these is a baby horse that we saw last summer. They loved us because we fed them apples & carrots!

Watching a DVD....he takes after all of the men in the family!
